Oct 29, 2024A teen was arrested after a firearm was found in his book bag at Spring Valley High School on Thursday, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
John Cook, 18, is charged with two counts of weapons on school grounds.
Authorities say SROs at Spring Valley High School were notified that Cook attempted to pass through metal detectors with two firearms in his book bag.
SROs immediately responded and secured Cook and his belongings, according to authorities.
Authorities say SROs found two loaded handguns in Cooks book bag, and neither was stolen.
He was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
