Jul 21, 2023Gun Found In Bucks County Man's Bag At Philly International Airport | Philadelphia, PA Patch
PHILADELPHIA — A gun was caught by TSA at the Philadelphia International Airport last week in the bag of a Bucks County man.
According to TSA, the firearm was found on Thursday last week at a security checkpoint.
An x-ray unit alerted officers to the firearm, an unloaded 9mm handgun, in the carry-on bag of a Yardley man.
The gun was packed with five accessible bullets in an adjacent gun magazine, TSA said.
Police responded to the checkpoint and confiscated the firearm from the man
"When someone brings a loaded gun to one of our checkpoints, it is a risk to everyone in the airport," Gerardo Spero, TSA’s Federal Security Director for the airport, said. "Firearms represent a threat because the intention of the traveler is unknown. If you own a firearm, do not bring it to a checkpoint. If you must travel with your gun, the proper way to do it is to make sure it’s unloaded, packed in a hard-sided locked case and taken to the airline check-in counter. The airline will ensure it is transported in the belly of the aircraft."
TSA found a loaded firearm in a Lancaster County man's bag Sunday.
So far this year, 36 guns have been caught by TSA at the Philadelphia International Airport.
